Coastal Farmhouse

Bay St. Louis, Mississippi

This home was designed and constructed to replace the nine-member family’s original home destroyed by lightning. The formal entry opens into a large double-height living space with an adjacent large eat-in Kitchen.  A large primary bedroom with an ensuite bathroom on the first floor provides some distance and privacy from the four large bedrooms and two large baths on the second floor. Stylistically this contemporary coastal farmhouse uses brick, Hardi lap siding, and board and batten detailing to minimize the large home’s scale. A metal standing seam roof with generous dormers allows light into both the upper and lower levels while helping to break up the large roof area and create cozy seating areas in the main upper-level hall and in each bedroom. A more formal and symmetrical porch at the front provides an inviting entry while ample outdoor screened and open living space faces the large rear yard.

My husband and I worked with Nora on the redesign and updating of our kitchen. Nora did a great job of taking our kitchen into the present day without taking away from or altering the style of our 1860's cottage. Nora was a great help in rethinking the way we use our rooms, suggesting turning the formal parlor into our dinning room which resulted in a fresh more open layout of our home accented by her paint color selections.

Nora was a dream to work with and did an outstanding job on our sorority chapter room! The women are beyond excited about their new design and everything was done professionally and on time. I would certainly use her services in the future! I can not say enough about how pleased we are!

After working with Ed and Nora on several historical projects, I have come to greatly admire their respect for the existing structure as well as respecting their clients' wishes. The attention to detail is unmatched and their designs blend seamlessly between old and new. The results are always happy clients.

My husband and I worked with Nora on the interior re-design of our home and she was absolutely fantastic. She did a great job identifying our style and blending it with her vision of what our house could become. We are thrilled with the results! Nora also helped us make design choices on window treatments and furniture upholstery. She was very professional and her expertise saved us countless hours and energy. Nora put us at ease and we never felt awkward when we had to re-evaluate an idea and stick within our budget. She offered a range of options at different price points. Most importantly, she helped us make the most of the treasured items we already owned and transformed this house into our home. Her ideas, eye for design, and talent make Nora a real joy to work with!
