Coastal Farmhouse
Bay St. Louis, MississippiThis home was designed and constructed to replace the nine-member family’s original home destroyed by lightning. The formal entry opens into a large double-height living space with an adjacent large eat-in Kitchen. A large primary bedroom with an ensuite bathroom on the first floor provides some distance and privacy from the four large bedrooms and two large baths on the second floor. Stylistically this contemporary coastal farmhouse uses brick, Hardi lap siding, and board and batten detailing to minimize the large home’s scale. A metal standing seam roof with generous dormers allows light into both the upper and lower levels while helping to break up the large roof area and create cozy seating areas in the main upper-level hall and in each bedroom. A more formal and symmetrical porch at the front provides an inviting entry while ample outdoor screened and open living space faces the large rear yard.
